For all of you faithfull followers, I guess you know that I am very behind in blogging...2 weeks to be exact! We have been a very busy family this month and Lauren is hanging in right here with us during all of our busy-ness. As I tell Lauren often, don't fret! I'll catch up!
Week 15: This week is marked by the wedding of our special family friend, Julianne Corbin to Todd Beasley. We started on Tuesday where I had a fun time visiting with one of my favorite group of girls at a Wine and Cheese Party at Aunt Mel's house. Eric and Lauren spent time together so I could go and enjoy some mommy time. I dropped Lauren off at Eric's office just before closing time. For some reason, Lauren seems to be emotionally allergic to his office with more-than-usual crying soon after walking through the door almost every time. Eric said that she was a good girl but needed a little extra loving and attention from him after I left. I still can't decide if having a baby at an office is the professional thing to do, even if it is a pediatric office. Anyway...
Friday, Grandaddy and Ganny arrived at our house at 10am ready for their babysitting duties so that I could help host the Bridesmaid Luncheon at the beach. They kept Lauren for about 5 hours. She always likes for them to come, I can tell :-). There is something about Grandaddy's voice and songs that just makes Lauren relax and sleep. I really appreciate all the babysitting help. Thank you! Later that night, Eric and I hosted a fish fry at our house for the Melzer's and McCord's. Lauren's friends were there and all 3 girls were little angels while we visited and had some yummy fish (from the guys' fishing trip to Chandeleur Island last weekend), fried green tomatoes, hushpuppies and BBQ beans.
Saturday was the big wedding day and Kaitlin and I went to the wedding brunch while Eric volunteered to visit with Lauren (ie. watch College Game Day). The wedding was at the beach at 5:30pm, just as the sun was setting, and was absolutely beautiful. Julianne and Todd seem to be made for each other and Julianne was a stunning bride. Eric and Lauren strolled the walkways of the hotel during the wedding (just in case she decided to let out a whimper) but she stayed almost the entire time with us at the reception before she and Eric went to my mom's hotel room to put her to sleep/watch the remaining part of the UF/LSU game. Eric and Lauren shared their first Daddy-Daughter dance and Lauren seemed to really like the music of the Ivey Brothers Band. She even danced with us once or twice more. Oh yeah, and this mommy decided that it would be adorable to dress her little baby in a smocked dress with matching bonnet for the beachside wedding...and yes, she was adorable. :-)
As for milestones, Lauren rolled over from her back to her tummy this week! (But has since been able to do it again!) She was on her playmat in the kitchen while I was cooking and was trying to reach for the lights with her farthest hand...and voila! Rolled over! I was shocked! I guess we'll have to see how long it takes her to do it again before we can truly say she is rolling in both directions (front to back and back to front). She is also very interested in most things around her and likes watching other children and animals. During our visit to Nan and Dick's house, Kellie and Emily had Bella over...Lauren loved looking at her. It was really cute.
Until next blog!
