Week 44: April 26-29, 2010

Yes, I occasionally count up how many weeks Lauren is...  ha...
We had lunch with Ganny, Granddaddy, Pops and Heath at The Colonial--one of Lauren's favorite places to eat.  She likes the carrots the most but will eat small bits of chicken, butter beans, bread, sweet potato and cream corn.  She loves it!

On this particular day, she decided to feel her hair during lunch...her head was greasy the rest of the day!

We then went to Granddaddy's house for an afternoon of playing...

practicing standing...

watching cartoons (she only gets to watch cartoons at his and Gigi's houses; I still haven't figured out an easy way for her to watch the Baby Eintein DVD's at our house since the TV is so high...)

looking at the rose bushes...

and of course, riding the golf cart.  On this particular visit, we were standing in the driveway when she looked over at the golf cart, pointed, grunted and starting kicking her legs up and down while looking back and forth at Granddaddy!  I was shocked!!  She was literally trying to tell him to take her on a ride...NOW please!   She is growing by leaps and bounds and surprises us frequently with new skills.

Visiting with Mrs. Wilhelmina

We then went to Bonifay to Thomas Jay's 13th birthday party!  Aunt Kay cut his hair...

while everyone looked on.  I would have thought she would have been nervous, but she said that she wasn't.  She did a really good job.  Aunt Louise and Uncle Ray were in town from Indiana and it was so nice to visit and see them.

It was a beautiful, cool afternoon.

Do you think she sees the moon and wants to tell us how pretty it is?  I don't think so, but I'll say "Yes, of course she is!"

On Wednesday, I arranged for a few hours by myself...so I got Nanny Taryn to come visit with Lauren and I headed to Santa Rosa Beach and Seaside.  As I sat at The Pizza Bar enjoying my bruschetta and foccia bread in a plush, soft couch in 80 degree weather with a cool sea breeze at my back, I wondered to myself..."why would I ever want to go back to work?"  Then I made myself stop this internal conversation and looked behind me at the Gulf's view and took a deep breath...  :-)

On 4/28/10 there was a big event to occur at our house...Lauren officially brushed her teeth with toothpaste (not just as a teether) with the help of her Daddy.  Big Day...Big, Big Day.
She didn't seem to mind it and was proud of her TWO shiny white teeth.  She has a 3rd tooth almost ready to break through on the bottom right.  We'll wait on pins and needles to see it in all it's beauty poke through any day now!

On Thursday, Ethan and Lucas came to spent part of the day with us two girls while Aunt Stacie went on a field trip with Austin's 3rd grade class.  Lauren loved playing with the boys.  Definitely funner than looking at me all day.  :-)
We took a stroll down to the airport to watch the planes take off and land.  Lucas was in one stroller and Lauren in the other.  Ethan made the long walk like a big boy.  We had a great time both boys.

We'll see you when we return from our Orlando trip!

April 19-25, 2010

Lauren turned 10 months old this week and continues to change weekly.  We have started serving her Gerber Lil Entrees since she absolutely refuses to eat baby jar vegetables and there are times when our meal isn't something that she can eat.  But what usually happens is she will start eating the Lil Entree and then want what we have.  As far as the Lil Entrees go, she has tried Ravioli, Chicken and Rice, Chicken and Mashed Potatoes, Spaghetti O's and the side vegetable that comes with it.
I usually feed her the food with a spoon, but on this particular day I needed to do something in the kitchen while she ate so I cut the Ravioli into smaller pieces and let her feed herself...this is what happened!  She loved the messiness though...
She LOVES carrots but doesn't always want to eat her peas.  This is the look we get when she is either full, doesn't want a certain food or something else that we can't figure out what she wants.  Thank goodness the chair padding is washable!

On Thursday night, we went to Chipley to watch Austin play baseball.  He plays Right Field. Lauren had a good time visiting with Pa and her cousins.

Aunt Kay couldn't stand the thought of Reny being so close, so she dropped by for a visit at the ball field.

After the game, we all went to KC's for pizza.  All the boys wanted to hold Lauren.  She loved being with them.

On Friday afternoon, Lauren and I went to the Panama City Honda dealership to witness that sweetest site!  Emily turned 16 and was surprised by her Nan, Papa and parents with a brand new Honda Accord.  She was so, so surprised and we are so proud for her.  Emily is one of the kindest, sweetest girls I know. The above picture is of the two of us hiding in the bushes outside that dealership and trying to sneak inside so Emily wouldn't see us.  It was fun!

On Saturday, we went to Bailey's 1st birthday party at her house.  Lauren chillin' in the backseat on the way there.  It doesn't take long before she takes her shoes off...

The birthday girl!!

On Sunday, we visited a new church and Lauren went to the nursery.  The nursery workers bragged and bragged on how sweet and happy she was during the service...talk about making a new mama proud!  I didn't know such a compliment on a 10 month old would make me feel that way!
We had a surprise visit from Grandma and Pa on Sunday afternoon.  So we went to Bass Pro to shop around a little bit.  Lauren helping Daddy pick out lures and hooks.

She loved watching the big fish.  I think it's time we find an aquarium to visit!

Lauren and Pa playing around.

Have I mentioned that our little 40% for weight baby can eat like a big girl?!?!?  I ordered a Jelly sandwich (I'm still not sure when I can start giving her Peanuts, so I left it off...I need to research that) for her and she at the ENTIRE sandwich!  I took a picture as proof...

We then went to Rosemary Beach for little bit of ice cream and look at the beautiful beach.

It was a gorgeous day and we had a fun time with Grandma and Pa.
We have no huge plans this next week except to get ready for our trip to Orlando next weekend.  We are looking forward to it!
