2.4.10 - 2.8.10: Wedding and Prune Juice!

We returned from our trip to Orlando and got ready for the fun wedding weekend of Mike and Liz Grandy. Friday, Lauren and I joined the wedding group at Rock It Lanes for a bowling party. Lauren loved watching all the lights and tons of people bowling. Here she is chewing on a pizza crust--feels so good to itching gums! Notice the bottle with prune juice in it. I always feel so uneasy feeding Lauren her Prune Juice/water/Miralax mixture in public because it looks like I'm giving her Coke in a bottle! I always feel the need to explain myself. :-) I have tried to wean her from both prune juice and Miralax separately, but it looks as if this will be part of her diet for a while. The poor baby's constipation is a bear without it. Dr. Rachesky has reassured me that it is okay for her to be on it for many months without her system becoming used to it. She is definitely a happier baby when her constipation stays away, so prune juice it is for now.
Lauren with the happy bride and groom at the bowling party!

Friday night, Emily and her friend Christy babysat Lauren for us so we could go out for a pre-wedding party at the Boatyard. The girls took great care of Lauren and reported that she was a good girl taking her bottle (I am so glad my baby can switch back and forth from bottle and breastfeeding) and going to sleep on time.
We had a great time seeing dental school friends that we had not seen in YEARS and we actually stayed out until past mid-night for the first time in a long time. :-)

Lauren loves trying new foods now. Peaches and strawberries in the net feeder are favorites even though they are VERY messy. We are still trying different kinds of sippy cups but this is a very slow process. Dr. Rachesky said that she would like for it to be mastered by 9 months, so we still have more time. Because she has gotten used to the taste of prune juice, it is hard to get her to take straight water from the cup, so I add a little bit of pear juice or apple juice for flavor. You would think that with all of this sweet juice she would have awful diarrhea...nope. Not her. We are hoping that by 9 months, we can try to wean her again from Miralax and Prune Juice and everything will flow smoothly (ha...sorry about that description!) If not, she may have to have an ultrasound and scope. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
While Eric and I were at Mike and Liz's beautiful wedding and fun reception, Lauren spent the night with Gigi, Pops and Aunt Kay. She was royally entertained with a trip to Chipola College. Aunt Kay was elected to the Freshman Homecoming Court got to walk with the whole court at Half-time.
Aunt Kay with Allison, who was in the Sophmore Court.

Lauren was a good girl for the entire game and saw Aunt Kay cheer during the second half.

She slept in Mommy's 30 year old crib through the night and "didn't cry the entire time at Gigi's house" per Gigi. The next morning, she went to the nursery at church and played with cousins Gavin and Logan. Mommy survived Night #2 (in 7 months) away from Lauren and was glad she had a night to herself with friends and Daddy (we ended up going to a nice dinner after the reception and then to a movie--in our nice clothes! We took advantage of every minute it was just the two of us!)
Thank you Gigi and Pops for loving on Lauren for 24 hours!

1.26.10 - 2.3.10 Trip to Orlando to Meet AEA and KAA

On Thursday January 31st, Lauren and I dressed in our black velour jump suits and the 3 of us set out on our trip to Orlando. Lauren was an excellent traveller in the car and boy was it ever a great trip. We got to see so many of our friends, take in an awesome theatrical performance at The Bob Carr, enjoy delicious restaurants and welcome The Ashy Girls to our world.
Working in the yard. I kept saying that this was Mary's form of "nesting". Thursday night we took Lauren out to eat at The Pub in Baldwin then on Friday, Lauren visited with Nanny Ashley while we went out to eat at Luma in Winter Park. This was a celebration dinner with 4 other couples in honor of the upcoming births of Ashlynn and Kaylee in 4 days.
Guys enjoying great food...
Luma is one of my favorite restaurants...
Lovin' on The Belly
On Saturday, Eric and I met The Bertot's for dinner at Citrus then The Phantom of the Opera at The Bob Carr. It is always so nice to sit, visit over good food and wine, and catch up on dentistry and children with them. They are truly special people to us.
Lauren is all ready for church!! Mark and Mary's church is under construction right now and there is not a nursery. But no worries! Lauren made it through the entire service without having to walk outside! It only took 7 months! :-)
Everybody gets their picture made with Ashlynn and Kaylee...
Even daddy. Eric said Good Bye to us on Sunday as he rented a car to drive back to Panama City to work while Lauren and I patiently awaited the delivery day 48 hours later. I'm so glad I got to stay and be a part of such a special day in our lives and The Ashy's lives.

We just hung out for the next 2 days keeping Mark and Mary company. It was cool weather, but that didn't stop us from swinging in the park!
Playing JB and Noah. Lauren loved playing with them, especially JB as he took extra gentle care of Lauren while he would show her pictures in books and building with blocks. It was so sweet. He is getting to be a good big brother and baby sitter!

THE DAY has finally come! Ashlynn Elizabeth Ashy and Kaylee Ann Ashy were born at 4:53 pm on Tuesday February 2, 2010. Both babies are healthy and were able to spend their first night in Mary's room.

Baby A = Ashlynn

Baby B = Kaylee
Lauren and I woke up Wednesday morning ready to go to the hospital to see the new cousins. This would be Lauren's first time meeting them and I was so excited to see what her expression would be! I wanted to be there right when visiting hours started, BUT that didn't happen. The above picture is what happens when Lauren is fussy and wants to be ever so close to her mommy but mommy needs to get ready quickly!!!
Kaylee

Ashlynn

When Lauren saw Ashlynn and Kaylee, she started smiling, kicking her feet, letting out her high-pitched squeal and started reaching for them! It was so cute!

I am so happy that I got to stay a few extra days and hold the girls...
Sisters forever...
After we left, Winnie Palmer Hospital Lauren had her lunch at a picnic table outside and then we strolled over to ORMC to introduce her to my co-workers in Orthopedics. An entire year has passed since I've seen any of them and it was great to let Lauren meet everyone. This past year has been a whirlwind...time has definitely flown by.

We then started our drive home to Panama City. On the way, we made a pit stop for Lauren to stretch at our back door neighbors, The Carolines, in Gainesville. Lauren loved playing with Kaitlyn and her friend.
Phew!! We'll get back to PC and recover and then think about our next trip to Orlando when we can hold and love on Ashlynn and Kaylee some more.
