Week 19: 11/2/09 - 11/9/09

Lauren has had a full week, once again. She is growing and changing and is showing us her developing sweet personality every day. She has two different kinds of cooing. One is a loud and boisterous talk (watch the video at the end of the blog) when she is playing with her princess on the play mat or with one of her stuffed animals and the other is a soft, sweet coo when she is having a conversation with us, mostly Eric. Her daddy is her absolute favorite person to play with and he can almost always get a laugh out of her. Sometimes, when he picks her up, she gets this smile on her face that says "ah, my daddy has me now". It's so cute.
We took another trip to the doctor this week. This time for constipation x 7 days! (Gasp!) It started with cereal last week and ever since the first taste rice cereal, no poop! (She seems to really like eating from a spoon, by the way, and likes the taste of it too.) Dr. Rachesky's ARNP recommended that we try one of the following: glycerin suppository, juice, or add fruit or veggies to her whole food regimen but to stop the cereal for now. So, I chose the suppository since that would provide the quickest relief. I just didn't know it was going to work so fast! Before I could get the next diaper fastened, it had started to work. So, we then started Pear Juice a few days later and this seems to be a good aid at this point. This belly issue canceled our trip to Chipola College that night to watch Aunt Kay cheer at her first college basketball game. Sorry, Aunt Kay, we'll plan to go to another one.

We have gone back to using our infant bath tub because the bather and sponge that I was using became difficult for me to give her a bath, for some reason. She is a perfect fit for this bath tub now, and am glad to be using it again. She has a new bath toy now and loves to suck on the eyes of the duck. Notice all of her hair! We've been able to wear more bows on her head now!

On Tuesday, we went to Chipley for a day of visiting with family. We stopped by the Garney's office to visit, went to Grandma's work, then to Ganny and Grandaddy's house, Mama Lee's house and finally to Thomas Jay's basketball game. He is, once again, the only 6th grader on the 8th grade team...impressive!

Lauren is doing great with belly time and likes it so much that she never rolls over any more! She loves to look at stuffed animals and prop herself up with one hand while reaching out with the other to grab a toy.

At Mama Lee's, Lauren got to meet Uncle Ray and Aunt Louise from Indiana. We sat on the porch and enjoyed the nice weather before heading off to Thomas Jay's game.

It was kinda loud in the gym. Da mommy had not thought about that but, like always, Lauren was a good little girl and endured it.

After the game...Lauren was ready to go to her house (HER buzzer had gone off), but was happy to watch Thomas Jay play. She was asleep in the car in less than 3 minutes.

Anna, Lauren and Bailey accompanied their parents to the Taste of the Beach Wine and Food Festival at Pier Park. It was a great night with beautiful weather. The girls didn't even know each other were there...they were in their own little world. So funny!

Sunday: We spent time at Aunt Nan's house to celebrate her birthday and introduce Lauren to Aunt Nancy and Uncle Walt. It was so good to see them. It had been the beginning of the summer when we were still pregnant since we had last visited with them (they spend summers in Oregon). We didn"t get to visit long as Lauren was having "a moment" but we are looking forward to visiting them in Niceville sometime soon.

I let Lauren watch a Baby Einstein DVD for the first time. She seemed to like it but she only lasted for 3-4 minutes.

Here she is playing in the sunroom on the floor with her teethers and teddy bear. She likes laying here and looking out the window at the trees and leaves blowing in the wind (which has been a lot lately, thanks to Hurricane Ida). I really think that she is in the process of teething right now. Yes, she likes to put everything in her mouth including her thumb, but she just gnaws and gnaws and gnaws on everthing.

That's it for now. We are looking forward to next week as I am planning on staying inside the house during most of the days because we have something scheduled almost every night next week. :-)
