March 21-25, 2011

Eric took us girls out on the boat on Monday.  Although this first picture shows Lauren throwing a little temper tantrum, we had a really fun time!
This was Lauren's first time actually fishing and learning how to operate the rod and reel. She definitely liked doing this with Eric and her favorite part was trying to work the reel.

After our short fishing trip (poor Eric didn't get to fish long) we went to Shell Island.  We walked over to the Gulf side and ran down the beach.  We had a lot of fun.
I do need to tell the next story for documentation...
Lauren has been pitching fits and throwing herself on the floor.  NOT GOOD!  This has been happening for about 3 weeks now and I've been trying to follow Dr. Rachesky's advice by "remove child from nearby dangerous objects and walk away and ignore her."  Well, I've been doing this for 3 weeks now and it's getting worse!  She did it a few times on the boat and I had had enough!  I picked her up, spanked her leg and said "if you throw yourself on the the ground again, I'll spank you!"  She threw herself on the ground.  So, I spanked her.  She did it 2 more times!  After 4 rounds of spankings she finally stopped.  I must have been yelling kinda loud and she was definitely crying loudly, that we attracted the attention of a close by boat of 3 fishermen.  They had literally stopped fishing and were just staring!  I know Eric was probably embarrassed!  Eric picked her up and she burrowed her face in his neck.  She'd look up at me, sniffle really loud and look away.  She was SO mad at me!
BUT...it should be documented that she has not thrown herself down on the floor during a temper tantrum since then!
Later that night, I drove the Wells Belles girls to Tallahassee to see "Mamma Mia"!  We watched it was Kaitlin and two of her friends and we had a really fun time!
On Tuesday night, we went to Firefly Restaurant with Mel, Dustin, Gigi, and Pops to celebrate Ganny's 80th birthday!
On Wednesday, Lauren and I went to the Jr. Museum for storytime and crafts.  She loves the Jr. Museum and I had a fun time watching her play and all of her favorite things there. ..the magnetic wall...
 the grocery store...
and color with Bailey and Olivia.  So cute.

Other tidbits of Lauren happenings:
Since the end of January, she has had an increased interest in books!  She's always liked books, but now she wants to pick out books over and over and over and have you read them to her.  So nice.

Can now say "balloon", "I did it", "shoe" (her favorite word), "no".

When we park the car, she says "I drive" and makes a driving motion with one hand.  She loves to crawl over the front seat and pretend to drive, press buttons.  I have to remind her that we can only "drive" when we are parked in the garage.  She will sometimes tell me to "sit, sit" and point to the passenger seat.  She'll try to put on her seat belt and want me to do the same.

On 3/13, we went to Baby Taylor Moore's baptism and Lauren went to the church nursery.  When we picked her up after church, she picked up a baby doll and said "I got baby."

On 3/14, she threw 3 times within a few minutes while Miss Heather was keeping her.  The first time was right after they parked her car at the zoo and so, Miss Heather cleaned her up and started on their way back home.  She threw up 2 more times and she pulled the car over and cleaned her up again.  Lauren looked right at Heather and said "I stink!"  :-)  I came home from work to check on her.  She was extremely playful and asking for food so I don't think she had an illness or anything.  She sometimes gets motion sickness and I think that's what happened here.  But the "I stink" part was really cute.

I also have a good update for her constipation issue!  We have started Pure Pressed Apple Juice (one sippy cup/day) and have switched to soy milk (a recommendation from Aunt Mary) and we are only having to use Miralax once a week!  What a big improvement from a daily dose of Miralax just to keep her going!  yay!
