Lauren has started her soon-to-be normal life of life on-the-go this past week. And she was such a trooper and good little girl!
We started the week with saying "good-bye" to Daddy as he went on a 5 day fishing trip to Stuart, FL with Pa, Uncle Lance, Uncle Gabe, and Uncle Joey. Lauren and I spent 2 nights at Gigi and Pops' house. While we were there, she met Kendall and Kali, Gigi's co-workers at the County School Board office, Grandma's co-workers at the hospital (don't worry, we just went to her office...no immunizations yet), and had lunch with Mama Lee at her house. She also met all the gentlemen at the coffee shop with Grandaddy. You should have seen all 11 of those men; they just oh'ed and ah'ed over her. It was a really sweet sight!
On Saturday, Lauren and I made our maiden voyage on our first girls trip to Gainesville to watch Joel Ticola be baptized at Queen of Peace church. We visited with the Caroline family, our back door neighbors in Town of Tioga. It was such a weird feeling driving into Town of Tioga with our baby. So many feelings rushed back as I remembered living there and wanting to have a baby. I felt very weird, but very relieved. Like a chapter had ended and a great new big one had just started. It was great to introduce Lauren to the Caroline's. After picking up take-out from Las Margaritas (of course!), we headed to our hotel. Lauren and I made it from the car to our room with our luggage with no problem and started our girl's night in. Saturday night, in Gainesville, in our pajamas, in a hotel room by 8pm...the sweetest Saturday night ever! The next day, we went to church and watched Joel be baptized. He did really great without even a whimper. Lauren got to meet my dear friend Karen Perrin (the best Burn Unit ARNP) while we were at church...I'm so glad we got to see you, Karen! We then had lunch with Matt and Daphne's families at the Ivy House Restaurant in Alachua. Lauren was such a good little traveler...slept all the way to and from Gainesville.
Monday, Lauren had her picture made wearing my christening gown; her first studio pictures. The first of many, I'm sure. :-) They turned out great and can't wait to share them with everybody.
The night before her Doctor's appointment, while Lauren was asleep, a really bad mosquito kissed my baby's face! If I ever catch those mosquitos...!! I don't know which would be worse, bad mosquito bites the night before a doctor's appointment or a photo session?!?!Tuesday...VACCINATION DAY! Eric and I both took Lauren to Dr. Rachesky's office: I was there for Lauren and Eric was there for me! She got 5 injections and 1 oral vaccination. I won't comment on much except that Lauren and I both cried. She weighed 11 lbs 4 oz (25%) and was 23 1/4 inches long (75%).
We ended Week 8 today with taking our Associate, Lauren, to a meeting at a media company to discuss marketing for Eric's office. I wonder when I can start to teach her to shake hands?
If you have made it this far, thanks for reading. I'm sure that most of my very long narratives each week aren't interesting to most people, but I don't want to forget the details of Lauren's "firsts"...and besides, this has become a crazy hobby for me now! :-)
I'm loving the hobby so don't quit now! You're an absolute brave new momma to take on so much with your cute little newborn. How in the world do you make it look so easy??? Out of town trips alone?? I loved the photo with Lauren on the luggage buggy in the hotel. Just like a mom to do it all, lug it all! I'd love to see her photos. We thought her announcement was so precious. What great parents you guys are....not that we had any doubts about that!!! Thanks for posting all the photos. Even though we are so far away and have yet to meet baby Lauren in person, I feel like we're getting to know her more and more every week. I'm loving all this technology! We miss you!
